The  Heart and  Soul  behind  the  Hair

A Note from Bettyrae

In my 25 years as a top Dallas colorist, there are a few things I know for sure — and one of them is that great hair doesn't have an expiration date. Hair color is my first love, and I built this salon around it. At The Do Cut and Color, every client is a Darling — and taken care of like one.

And as the founder, and as a woman, I understand you — you've lived, loved, and earned every bit of who you are, and you never stop wanting to look good in the mirror. I get it.

Style is an essence, and yours didn’t go anywhere. Let’s find the next version of you — and the hair you didn’t think you could have anymore. Consider this your invitation.

'Cause Darling — you're not done yet. And neither am I.

Let's start with a conversation.

Not Done Yet questions, answered

Do you do haircuts for women over 50 and 60?

Yes, Darling — it's one of the things we love most. A haircut for women over 50 or over 60 is about the shape that flatters you now, with your texture and the way you like to wear it. Short haircuts, long layers or something in between, we'll find the cut that looks like you.

Should I cover my gray or blend it?

Both are beautiful, Darling, and they do different things. Gray blending softens the gray with gentle dimension, so it grows out gracefully with no hard line. Gray coverage gives you full, rich color. At your consultation we'll look at your hair, your skin tone and how you live, and determine what works best for you.

Are highlights good for gray hair?

They're one way to handle it, Darling. Highlights for gray hair, painted through the gray, blend it in and brighten your whole face. Balayage for gray hair does the same with softer, hand-painted color that grows out gracefully — no hard line. At your consultation we'll determine whether highlights, gray blending or a little of both works best for you.

Is a hair gloss good for gray hair?

Yes, Darling — a hair gloss for gray hair is one of the kindest things you can do for it. It adds shine and softness and leaves the hair feeling smoother, with no commitment to color. A toner for gray hair calms yellow or brassy tones so silver stays bright and clean. Both pair beautifully with gray blending or highlights — at your consultation we'll determine whether a gloss belongs in your plan.

What does aging well mean for my hair?

To us, aging well means hair that is healthy, soft and shiny — never stiff, never “done.” Hair can get drier and wirier over the years, so we lean on hair repair treatments, a good hair gloss, and Brazilian Blowout Rewind, our gray hair treatment, to keep the softness and the shine.

How do I get started?
